I decided to get this one for a light hike I was going to be doing while camping. I bought this pack recently on a whim while shopping Walmart. I needed a day pack and didn't really have lots of time to search at REI for the various styles provided having only gone to one store. This daypack ended up being the cheapest after a quick perusal. I know some will immediately dismiss my review simply because I bought this pack at WalMart. However, for more extensive or demanding trips, Ozark Trail offers larger backpacks such as the 4-Day/3-Night Backpack with a capacity of 100 liters. These larger backpacks provide ample space for your gear without compromising on comfort and functionality. Remember to choose the right size backpack to suit your specific needs and preferences. One feature that really stands out to me is its water-resistant coating. You may encounter some natural hazards when hiking through the wilderness, but it shouldn’t deter you from enjoying the outdoors. The Ozark Trail Association marks and improves the trail and ensures campsites are well maintained. There's no way I can justify paying five times more for something that might carry just as well. For the second overnight hike in which I used the pack, I left the hammock at home and stuffed an REI Stratus insulated pad and lightweight bivy inside. I was a little concerned with how the straps would distribute weight. Prior to taking it out on the trail, I did give it two coats of silicone spray so that it would shed water. Packing-wise, I chose to line it with a garbage disposal liner. Finding the perfect Ozark Trail backpack can be a daunting task with so many options to choose from. I sweat under the best of rain shells when hiking hard in moderately cold temps. The umbrella gives me a little roof to walk under, but it’s not for everybody. I’ve also used a poncho which kept my upper body dry, but I still get clammy. I pack my clothes and personal items in a waterproof stuff sack, then place that along with my down quilt inside a trash compactor bag. The compactor bag fills cracks and crevices in the pack to utilize space and has kept items dry on rainy days. I pack needed items in small containers when possible to save weight. The 26-mile route follows Blair Creek south as it carves down a valley through oak-hickory-pine forest before merging with the emerald waters of the Current River. Here the 30-mile Current River section picks up, following the river for two miles before veering south toward Stegall Mountain. Enjoy views of the Ozark landscape as you gain 500 feet of elevation up 2.5 miles to the top of Stegall Mountain.
